Notice of Hearing Pertaining to Metolachlor and S-Metolachlor Degradation Product Residue Detections in Ground Water

Update – Metolachlor and S-Metolachlor, used in preemergent herbicides for weed control – The California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has scheduled a public hearing for March 28, 2017 in Sacramento, California to “… determine if the registration of [these] agricultural use products should be allowed to continue …” – DPR notes that it “… detected two degradation products, ethanesulfonic acid and oxanilic acid, of the active ingredients metolachlor and S-metolachlor in California’s ground water. DPR determined that these detections were the result of legal agricultural use of metolachlor/S-metolachlor products …”
