Fear No Weevil: A Small Southern Town Embraces its Peculiar Monument

Towering 13 feet over Main Street, a robed goddess holds aloft a menacing six-legged creature, a true monument to weevil. With other landmarks in the Deep South under fire, the Boll Weevil Monument stands alone. “There’s no other place that has a monument to a bug,” says local merchant Jessica Goodson.
