The all-items Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of economy-wide inflation, was down 0.3 percent from November to December 2018 but is 1.9 percent above the December 2017 level. The CPI for all food rose 0.3 percent from November to December, and food prices were 1.6 percent higher than the December 2017 level.
