CropLife America Applauds Senate’s Progress on PRIEA Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Senate Agriculture Committee marked-up by voice vote a Chairman’s amendment to HR 1029, the Pesticide Registration Improvement Extension Act (PRIEA) of 2017. Action by the Senate Agriculture Committee follows passage in the House of Representatives of HR 1029 by a bipartisan voice vote on March 20. The current authority for PRIA expires on September 30, 2017.

“PRIEA will continue the tradition of providing a source of stable funding for EPA registration activities and related programs, while ensuring regulatory certainty for chemical registrants over the life of this third reauthorization,” said Jay Vroom, president and CEO of CropLife America.

“I appreciate the support of the industry fees coalition and we look forward to working closely with Senate leadership as we take the next steps toward eventual enactment,” concluded Vroom.
